Fox Cub at Shinto Shrine

A wide-eyed chibi fox sits at the base of a stone stairway holding a paper lantern almost as big as itself. Above it, a vermillion torii gate frames a sky full of pastel hills, pine, and cherry-pink trees. Stone lanterns flank the path on either side.

The character is pure kawaii — round cheeks, blush dots, glossy oversized eyes, a fluffy white-tipped tail curled around. Everything is sweet-leaning, but the scenery behind isn't shy: it's stacked with detail, from rope tassels on the gate to tiny temple-mark details on the lanterns.

Two coloring jobs in one. The fox wants warm reds, peaches, and creams; the landscape wants cool teals, pinks, and lavenders. Keeping those palettes from fighting is the actual craft of finishing this piece.

A long sit, but a forgiving one. Good for colorists who like Studio Ghibli warmth and don't mind small repetitive shapes.
