Orange Tabby in a Sunny Window

For the slow Sunday morning kind of session. The orange tabby sits upright on a windowsill, tail curled around its paws, chin tilted upward to watch something just outside the frame — a bird, maybe, or just light.

The light itself is the subject. Sun pours in through old wavy glass, throwing long warm patches across the sill and the cat's flank, leaving the right side of the body in cool shadow. A potted plant sits at the lower left, half in silhouette.

The palette splits cleanly into two halves — warm gold and orange where the sun lands, sage green and dusty teal everywhere else. The shadow side of the cat is where the work is; the lit side practically colors itself.

A quiet, almost wordless piece. Closer in feel to an interior painting than a pet portrait. Best for colorists who like atmosphere over detail.
