Coastal Cliff Arch with Crashing Surf
Dramatic sea arch with crashing waves and rugged coastal cliffs.
The surf is doing most of the work here. A sea arch carved from a headland frames a slice of open ocean, and the foreground is broken white water churning around dark rocks — easily a third of the artwork is foam.
The cliff face is where the color decisions get interesting: layered ochres, mossy greens, deep cool shadows in the recesses of the arch, a few dark conifers clinging to the top edge. Water reads as banded blues and whites rather than detailed waves, so the texture is built into the line work, not asked of you.
