Toucan in a Jungle with Hibiscus

Hot orange beak, hibiscus red, jungle green so dark it's almost teal. The toucan sits in profile on a brown branch, its enormous yellow-and-orange bill cutting across the left half of the frame while red hibiscus blooms shoulder in from the foreground and palm fronds layer behind. The sky shows a thin slice of lavender-and-coral sunset at the top.

This is a saturated, tropical, vector-style illustration with hard color blocks and very little gradient work. The bird's body is glossy navy-black, the chest fades from cream into yellow into a rust collar, and the eye is ringed in bright orange. Lots of leaf shapes overlap behind, which gives the colorist real choices about how to push the foliage forward or let it recede.

Best approached as a flat-color exercise rather than a shading study. Commit to the punch.
