Santorini Blue Dome Sunset

A blue-domed church on the cliff edge, white houses cascading down the slope behind it, and the Aegean opening out to the right with little boats scattered across it like punctuation marks. Sun low on the horizon, light hitting the water in a long silver streak.

The painting style is loose, almost watercolor — soft edges, broken brushwork on the cliffs, rendered more like a Mediterranean travel painting than a photograph. The blue dome is the visual anchor; everything else navigates around it.

Three distinct zones to work through. The architecture up close (white walls, blue accents, the wash of bougainvillea flowers in the corners). The cliff in the middle (warm browns and sage greens). The sea and sky (cool blues that warm into peach near the sun).

A long-haul page. Best with a soundtrack of waves, real or otherwise.
