Sun Setting Between Canyon Cliffs

There is no horizon in this piece, only sky and water. Sheer canyon walls rise on both sides, framing a setting sun trapped between cliffs; a still river runs straight back into the light. Cotton-candy clouds in pink, peach, and lavender pile up overhead, and dark thorny shrubs in deep red dot the foreground rocks.

This is a sky-first design. The clouds occupy more than half the frame and demand the most palette attention — at least four pinks, two purples, and a band of warm yellow at the sun. The cliffs and river just echo the sky, slightly desaturated.

A dreamlike piece, leaning fantasy rather than landscape. Bring out the unrealistic colors; the design is asking for them.
