Day of the Dead Symmetrical Portrait
Elegant woman with intricate sugar skull makeup embodying Día de Los Muertos tradition.
A Catrina rendered in near-perfect bilateral symmetry. The forehead motif balances point-for-point, the eye sockets mirror each other, the curls of teal hair fall in matched arcs over both shoulders, and a pair of orange roses sit at exactly the same height on either side of the head. Even the foliage at the base of the frame is symmetrical.
That structure changes how you color it. Decisions made on one side commit you to the other, which makes the piece read more like a mandala than a portrait. The amber irises against the deep teal hair is the only place the symmetry breaks for a hot accent. Best for colorists who like the discipline of matching a color across an axis.
