Sugar Skull with Marigolds
Day of the Dead skeleton with sugar-skull motifs, bright flowers, and papel picado banners.
Marigolds, papel picado, and a grinning sugar skull in full dress. The skeleton sits chest-up against a deep purple background, the skull patterned in cyan scrollwork and ringed-flower eye sockets, marigolds and zinnias crowding around the head in orange, magenta, and yellow. Cut-paper banners flutter in red, blue, and gold at the top corners.
This is the most maximalist piece on the page. Every inch is doing something. The ribcage carries its own row of small dotted flowers; the collarbone glows orange and teal. The palette is loud and unapologetic: hot pink against deep violet, orange against blue, no quiet zones.
Best for colorists who like to commit fully to a saturated traditional palette and aren't tempted to dial it down.
