Leprechaun Holding a Shamrock

182435475769

Mischievous red-bearded leprechaun with a sly grin, green hat, and shamrock.

Start with the clover. It's the smallest element on the page but the brightest hierarchical anchor — the leprechaun is pinching it between thumb and forefinger, eyes locked sideways onto it like he's about to pocket the thing.

The rest is classic St. Patrick's Day shorthand: gold-buckled top hat, wild orange beard and sideburns, emerald frock coat over a mustard waistcoat, white shirt and bowtie. The background is a single flat mint green so nothing competes with the figure.

A character-piece more than a scene-piece. The face does most of the work — wide grin, pinked cheeks, eyebrows angled into the mischief — and the hands are unusually expressive for a coloring page. Worth taking your time with the skin tones.
