The hare sits in profile against a deep teal ground, but the body has been opened up like a piece of embroidery — orange and cream poppies, daisies, tiny tulips, and curling leaves bloom directly out of the fur. The flower-on-fur trick means there are really two design problems stacked: realistic warm-brown rabbit on the head and chest, decorative flat-color folk pattern in the body. Treat them as separate palettes and the piece sings.
